讲座题目:
An Introduction to Parthian History and Silk Road 帕提亚帝国历史与丝绸之路
讲座内容:
The Parthian Empire long-lasted five-centuries and extended on a wide territory that included modern Iran, Iraq up to southern Turkmenistan and parts of Afghanistan and the Caucasus Region. In fact, Parthian-rooted dynasties ruled in Armenia, Iberia (eastern Georgia), and Caucasian Albania (Azerbaijan) and had a special role in the Christianization of those lands. The so-called Indo-Parthian Dynasty controlled a kingdom between modern Afghanistan and northern Pakistan whose main representative appeared in ancient Chinese sources as An Shigao and was among the first Buddhist missionaries into the Heavenly Kingdom. The Parthians founded the Arsacid Dinasty (ca. 250 BCE-226 CE) that established important relations with the Roman Empire in the West and, much more peaceful ones, with the Han Empire in the East along the so-called network commonly called the "Silk Road".
